So, I've been somewhat busy for an injured lady. The fact I haven't blogged has sadly been due to the location of my computer in relation to my location over the past few weeks. I guess when it comes down to it I may be a little bit of a lazy injured lady.
In my defense, my sister came and helped me put together my traditional Christmas Tamales and make pancake mixes to hand out to friends. Thank you Rachel! Love you red! :) Now if I can only get them delivered before Christmas... I AM working on it!
Just wanted to give my husband and I a pat on the back for successfully managing to stay married - mostly happily - for the past fifteen years. Up until now, I haven't been prepared to think of our anniversaries as such a big deal. You know, lots of folks stay married for 8, 9, 10 years. Fifteen years though, now that seems like something of an accomplishment.
You know how when you're little, the adults get to sit at that special table with all of the extra goodies while the "kids" are releagated to subpar seating. You all know what I'm talking about. While I now feel as though I can move up to the married "big kids" table. It feels good.
So the first fifteen years brought six kids. I wonder what kinds of fun things will happen in the next fifteen years. Isn't that when you get to start going on all of the child free fun vacations? I'll have to keep you posted.
Derek, I love you babe! And we'll keep "fighting the good fight"!

It's Beginning Look a Lot Like Christmas...
The song is in my head, but here in southern Arizona we have to hang Christmas lights made like chili peppers on the Saguaro Cactus to get in the Holiday spirit.
I love Arizona this time of the year, the weather is truly perfect. Seventy and sunny. I try to be normal and miss snow for Christmas, but I just can't bring myself to do it. I love the sunshine too much. (Plus, we HAVE to enjoy this! Have any of you been to Phoenix in July?)
Anyway, as most folks here I am a transplant, but there are a few Southwest Christmas Traditions that I love to participate in. One is Tamales. So let me share this link that provides one of the yummiest, most thorough tamale recipes you'll ever use. (And I'll be sharing a few other of my favorite holiday recipes in the future.)
Enjoy!!

Bummer!
Sadly, my little nine year old girl is very sick so we are missing her gymnastics recital today. What a bummer! She looked so beautiful and feminine last night for her dress rehearsal. She is usually a "tomboy" and her "look" is "hair down." (She actually had that conversation with me a few weeks ago - what the heck!)
Never mind she cried at me last night for ten minutes before she walked out the door because her hair was in a ballerina bun. It was worth it! Now, I have to miss getting her all dolled up today. That is really my favorite part.
I guess there is always next year, but I am bummed.

Broccoli Cheese Soup
Disclaimer: This is not low in fat, just really delicious! You should absolutely make this word for word at least once. After that, if you think you need to tinker to make it diet friendly - fine. Just promise me you will make it the right way first. Promise? Okay, here it is:
*Read through the complete recipe for your grocery list.
1 Large can chicken broth (the size of a large tomato or pineapple juice can.)
1 Large bag frozen broccoli
2 chicken boullion cubes
1 1/2 cups water
1 chopped onion
salt, pepper, 2 tbsp lawry's season salt
Combine above ingredients and boil for 20 minutes.
Add: 1 pint half and half
1 C milk
Slowly simmer, do not boil.
Dissolve 1 cup cornstarch in 2 cups water. Stir with a whisk.
Chop one small velveeta cheese into cubes.
Add cornstarch and cheese to liquid mix. Stir with heat on low until cheese is melted and soup thick.
This recipe nearly fills a large crockpot.
Thank you Mamaw Lynn for this awesome recipe!

Missed one!
Shoot!
I missed a day and I missed a broken bone in my wrist. Or at least, it may be... the DR wasn't positive so he put me in a splint and now I really look like a mess!
Hubby's threatening to put me in a full body cast. At the rate I'm going, that may not be a bad idea!

Broken
So we're on day number two of my blogging adventure. I'm not totally sure I'll have something witty and important to say on a daily basis, but until I get in the habit of posting, I'm going to try.
So it turns out that my leg is actually broken. Not the "bone chip" break I was originally told. It took me 38 years but I finally managed to break something. Moving that one off the "bucket list." :) (Do smileys show up in your blog?)
Dad flew in today from Utah to help chase around the eight month old girl. What a good dad!
My little seven year old went to school today and told the teacher that his mom broke her leg and so the whole class needed to write her get well cards. That child is so precious. The other sweet thing is his teacher actually took a minute to write me a note. She explained that she didn't have enough time to let the entire class write one, but she was able to have a few send notes home.
How sweet!
I have great friends and a fantastic family. My life is blessed
P.S. I also have a hot pink cast - Oh Yeah!!! The only thing it's missing is a little sparkle. Don't think I'm not going to find a way to add it!

Way to go!
Well, I've gone and done it now.
I managed to fracture my foot four weeks before Christmas. Four wheeling in the desert sounded like so much fun all the way until I was in the air with the quad one way and me the other.
Never mind it's a mother's busiest time of the year. Never mind that I have an eight month old baby that's trying her BEST to make me crazy already. (How is it possible that she finds every single paper, crumb, popcorn kernel, every everything on my vacuumed - I promise - floor to stick in her mouth!)
Never mind that I actually have five other children besides her to take care of, shop for, get to their activities, go to their Christmas recitals, plays, etc.
Maybe the upside is, I'll start this blog I've been thinking about for a while... Maybe I'll make a game plan to get my life in order. That's been my goal for a while now.
Just maybe....
